LasikLog Privacy Policy

LasikLog is a personal post-operative recovery tracker for laser eye surgery (LASIK, PRK, SMILE, TransPRK). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, how it is stored, and the limited circumstances in which any information leaves your device.

This Policy is in addition to the privacy practices of Apple Inc., who distributes the App through the App Store.

1. Summary

  • Your recovery data stays on your device. Medication logs, symptom check-ins, vision and pain ratings, restriction status, follow-up appointments, surgeon contact details, and progress photos are stored locally inside the App's sandbox on your iPhone. We do not have access to them, and we cannot retrieve them.
  • No account is required. The App does not ask you to sign up, log in, or provide an email address.
  • Anonymous usage analytics only. We collect aggregate, non-identifying usage events through a privacy-focused analytics provider (TelemetryDeck). No personal data, no health data, and no free-text content you enter is transmitted.
  • Purchases are processed by Apple. The one-time purchase that unlocks the App is handled by Apple's StoreKit. We do not see or store your payment details.
  • No advertising. No tracking across apps or websites. No data sale.

2. Information Stored on Your Device

The following information is created by you within the App and stored only on your iPhone (in the App's protected sandbox):

  • Procedure type (LASIK, PRK, SMILE, TransPRK), surgery date, and (optional) surgeon name, clinic name, and surgeon phone number.
  • Medication schedule and history of which doses you marked as taken.
  • Symptom check-in entries (dryness, light sensitivity, vision clarity, pain, halos), including any free-text notes you choose to add.
  • Activity restriction status and the dates you marked restrictions as cleared.
  • Follow-up appointment dates and notes.
  • Progress photos of your eyes that you choose to capture inside the App. These are stored in the App's sandbox, not in your device's Photos library, unless you explicitly export them.
  • App preferences (waking hours, notification toggles, appearance mode).

This information is not transmitted to OmniaChron, to any cloud service, or to third parties. Uninstalling the App permanently deletes this information from your device.

3. Information Processed Off-Device

We use a small number of third-party services that are necessary to operate the App. These services receive only the information described below.

3.1 TelemetryDeck (Anonymous Analytics)

We use TelemetryDeck to understand how the App is used in aggregate so we can improve stability and prioritize features. TelemetryDeck is designed to be privacy-preserving and processes events without persistent user identifiers.

What we send:

  • Anonymous app usage signals (e.g., "Today screen viewed", "drop marked as taken", "purchase completed").
  • App version, iOS version, and device model class (e.g., "iPhone 15 Pro").
  • A hashed, salted, non-reversible identifier derived from device characteristics so TelemetryDeck can de-duplicate sessions without identifying you.

What we never send:

  • Your name, email, surgeon name, clinic name, surgeon phone number, or any free-text notes.
  • Any health data, including procedure type, medication names, symptom ratings, vision ratings, pain ratings, or appointment details.
  • Photos you have taken inside the App.
  • Persistent device identifiers, advertising identifiers (IDFA), or location data.

TelemetryDeck's privacy policy is available at telemetrydeck.com/privacy.

3.2 Apple StoreKit (Purchases)

The App is unlocked with a one-time purchase processed by Apple. We never see or store your payment information; Apple handles the transaction and provides us only with an anonymous receipt confirming purchase status. Apple's privacy practices apply to the purchase: see apple.com/legal/privacy.

3.3 Apple Push Notification Service (Notifications)

Local reminders for drops, restriction milestones, and appointments are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device. The App does not register for or receive remote push notifications from us.

4. Health Data

LasikLog is not integrated with Apple HealthKit and does not read from or write to Apple Health. All health-adjacent information you enter (symptom ratings, vision ratings, medications, pain levels, photos) is stored locally and is never transmitted to OmniaChron or any third party.

LasikLog is an informational tracker. It is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, and does not provide diagnosis or treatment. Always follow your surgeon's specific instructions.

5. Children

LasikLog is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The App is intended for adults recovering from elective laser eye surgery.

6. Your Choices and Controls

Because your recovery data stays on your device, you control it directly:

  • Delete entries: Remove individual medications, symptom entries, photos, or appointments inside the App.
  • Reset the App: Uninstall LasikLog from your iPhone to permanently delete all data created within it.
  • Disable notifications: Turn off all reminders system-wide in iOS Settings, or per-category inside the App's Settings tab.
  • Disable analytics: A toggle in Settings → About lets you opt out of anonymous TelemetryDeck events at any time.
  • Restore your purchase: Use "Restore Purchase" in Settings if you reinstall the App or set up a new device.

If you are a resident of a jurisdiction with statutory data rights (for example, the EU/UK under GDPR, Canada under PIPEDA, or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to request access, correction, deletion, or portability of personal information we hold about you. Because we do not collect or store identifiable personal information from App users on our servers, in most cases there is no such information for us to retrieve. Contact us at the address below if you have a specific request.

7. International Processing

OmniaChron Inc. is based in Canada. Our analytics provider may process anonymous events on servers located in the European Union, Canada, or the United States. By using the App you understand that anonymous, aggregated events may be processed outside your country of residence.

8. Security

We apply reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards. Data on your device is protected by iOS sandboxing and (when enabled) device-level encryption tied to your passcode or Face ID/Touch ID. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the Effective Date above and, where appropriate, surfaced in the App. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
